Kang Soyoung is an A-rank combat Hunter employed by Seseong Guild. She is the bearer of the SS-rank skill Dragon Rider. She was assigned by Sung Hyunjae to participate in Han Yoojin's rotating bodyguard service in order to endear her to him, so that she could ask him to raise her dragon Comet into a kiseungsu for her.
She is English by birth, possessing a dual citizenship in Britain and South Korea.[1]
Appearance[]
Kang Soyoung has long blonde hair and deep blue eyes that are almost navy. She generally has a bright expression and is smiling. Being of English origin, her features are more European. Her face is youthful and beautiful as well as cute.[1]
Her E-book profile shows her dressed in a black leather biker's jacket, a brown high-necked shirt, brown gloves, worn navy jeans, and knee-high black boots. Her hair is in a high ponytail, and would come down to approximately mid-back when untied.[2]
Personality[]
Kang Soyoung has a vibrant and exuberant personality, and is generally positive and friendly, able to quickly befriend others like Bak Yerim and even the somewhat-skittish Noah Luire. As a high-rank Hunter, she normally has a keen sense of her surroundings and those around her, and can tame her energy to match more serious settings. She understands the consequences of her actions and is normally careful not to go too far with her abilities. She is also not afraid to directly contradict her earlier words and actions when she realizes she's in the wrong.[3]
However, she has one major blind spot, which is dragons. When encountering an opportunity to befriend or ride a dragon, Kang Soyoung becomes almost mindlessly set on approaching them, losing track of the situation and the dragon's danger to those around them, often resulting in severe collateral damage. She is relentlessly obstinate and even greedy when it comes to becoming close with more and more dragons.[3] While this excessive drive can be linked to her skill Dragon Rider, it is also possible that this was a facet of her personality even before Awakening, resulting in her obtaining an associated skill.

- Dragon Rider (SS): Allows the user to ride dragon types as her mount.[1] This skill nullifies the user's fear of dragon types. When the user rides a dragon, this skill allows their stats to be combined together, with the combination rate depending on the duo's compatibility. Their combined stats can go over S-rank level, should the dragon be S-rank. The dragon's attack skills' effects on the user are also nullified.[4]

- "Kang Soyoung" is a pseudonym she uses in South Korea for ease of natives' pronunciation, and not actually her real name. Her real name is unknown as of Chapter 200.
