My little brother, Han Yoohyun. I love you.

Han Yoojin (Korean: 한유진, RR: Han Yujin) is an stat F-rank Hunter and the protagonist of The S-Ranks That I Raised. He dedicates his childhood to raising his younger brother Han Yoohyun. When Yoohyun eventually Awakens as an S-rank Hunter and later sacrifices himself to save his brother's life, Han Yoojin goes back in time to prevent his death.

Appearance[]

Han Yoojin has a pale complexion, straight black hair, and dark eyes. When he blushes, the blush goes all the way down to his neck.[1] He describes his features as somewhat plain compared to the S-ranks, and also remarks that his build is rather thin compared to before his regression, wherein his body was more toned.[2]

On the official S-Ranks cover, Han Yoojin is depicted as wearing a white t-shirt with a black collar (fan art frequently depicts this as a raglan t-shirt). He has on a black leather jacket and black trousers, as well as dark mid-calf combat boots. He also wears fingerless gloves.

On his official character profile, he wears a dark green bomber jacket over a white sweatshirt, jeans, and black sneakers with white accents.[3]

Han Yoojin's accessories include the Manticore's Leather Gloves and the Black Fairy Earrings, bought at the Hunter Mall,[4] and the latter of which get stolen during his first kidnapping.[5] They are later replaced by red earrings he receives as a gift from Sung Hyunjae.[6] Yoo Myeongwoo also crafts him the weapon Yoo Eunhye, which he wears first as a bracelet,[7] then as a choker.[8] He rarely takes any of the aforementioned accessories off, as they serve as either stat boosting or defense items.

Personality[]

Han Yoojin is a caring and loving person to the point of having built his entire identity around it. He instinctively acts as a guardian to others, often at the expense of his own health and safety. He finds it difficult to let go of his care for others, even if seemingly betrayed by them (though he does feel hurt and betrayed[9]). The most notable example of this is his readiness to commit passive suicide after losing Han Yoohyun before the regression.[10] Due to repeatedly being placed in situations where he has little control over things, he has a somewhat negative self-perception, considering himself unreliable and untrustworthy.[11]

Han Yoojin experiences and responds to almost all his emotions very strongly. He tends to ramble and make excessive internal threats, and deals poorly with embarrassment, horror, and other negative emotions, often threatening to commit suicide or insulting the other parties involved.[12][13][14] These strong reactions also occur when faced with genuine praise or indications of caring, generally from anyone other than Han Yoohyun.[15]

Han Yoojin is an excellent actor and liar, able to dupe even an already-suspicious S-rank without being caught.[16] However, he can rapidly lose his composure when challenged on a lie, particularly by those he's close to, causing him to be caught in the act. Though he wants to be more honest, he isn't above rationalizing away excessive lying or scamming, though he does feel guilty about it on occasion.[9]

He tends to be passive-aggressive and sarcastic, with a bit of a sharp tongue even around his loved ones.[9] He is intelligent and adaptable, able to plan strategies against enemies on the fly, but at the same time impulsive and prone to making poor decisions. He himself believes he's not calculating, and that his apparent intelligence is just the experience from his regression. Though he commits himself to many responsibilities and duties, he frequently bemoans his heavy workload, wanting to live a peaceful, responsibility-free life with his family.[17]

Abilities[]

Stats[]

At level 1, Han Yoojin's stats are Stamina: 6, Strength: 4, Agility: 5, Mentality: 4, and Mana: 2.[18]

Skills[]

  • (formerly, pre-regression) Strength Up (E): Initial skill. Increases a target's Strength stat by 5% for 30 minutes. Has an immediate effect. Similar and identical skills cannot be stacked. This was one of Han Yoojin's initial skills in the original timeline.[18]
  • (post-regression only) Mentality Up (E): Initial skill. Increases a target's Mentality stat by 5% for 30 minutes. Has an immediate effect. Similar and identical skills cannot be stacked.[18]
  • Agility Up (E): Initial skill. Increases a target's Agility stat by 5% for 30 minutes. Has an immediate effect. Similar and identical skills cannot be stacked.[18]
  • Terrifying Hatchling Class Teacher (SS):[19] Likely Han Yoojin's optimized level-10 skill and presumably obtained through leading and directing a given number of high-ranked individuals. Creates a mental/sensory link between the skill user and a group of designated targets, allowing the user to connect specific targets to each other and convey their movements and sensory perceptions to one another.[20] The user experiences everything that other connected targets are experiencing, while designated targets are limited to what the user allows them to share. Connections between any given pair of designated targets can be one-way or two-way.[21]
    • Due to Yoojin's low stat rank, this skill requires the target's consent. Rejection of the skill can cause Yoojin to suffer a strong backlash.[21]
  • Mindscape skill (unknown rank): Learned from Diarma through Yoojin's own aptitude for mental skills, arising from the Teacher skill.[22] Allows the user to draw a target into a shared mental landscape where they can interact freely. The user and target's bodies in the real world fall unconscious for the duration of the skill usage.[22] Yoojin is also able to use the ability targeting himself to evoke his memories in an extremely vivid fashion.[23]
    • Due to Yoojin's low stat rank, this skill requires the target's consent. Rejection of the skill can cause Yoojin to suffer a strong backlash.[24]
  • Cat's Steps (A): A permanently-active skill that comes from the Black Leopard Cat's Jacket. Increases the bearer's stealth, allowing them to move quickly and silently, and boosts any hiding-related abilities.[25]
  • Pat-Pat (B): Purchased in the Point Store. Allows the user to calm a target by patting them. This skill gets stronger the more the target trusts the user,[26] with the potential to work on highly-trusting targets even when they're actively trying to resist its effects.[27]
  • Rockabye (A): Purchased in the Point Store. Allows the user to make a target fall asleep by coaxing them to rest. This skill gets stronger the more the target trusts the user,[26] with the potential to work on highly-trusting targets even when they're actively trying to resist its effects.[27]

Titles[]

Pre-regression[]

  • Caregiver (unknown rank, skill title): Han Yoojin's primary title. From the Caregiver title range, granted to caregivers of high-rank Awakeners. This title's skills affected those who were emotionally influenced by a keyword, "do your best", or derivatives of the same, spoken to them by the title holder. Once a target was aware of the keyword's effects, this title's skills would become ineffective on them.[18]
    • My Brat Is The Best (unknown rank): (name unconfirmed) Boosted the growth rate of an influenced target by 10% for 1 day. Could be used on an already-influenced target without having to reuse the keyword. Could not be stacked on the same target. There was a 30 day cooldown before it could be reused on the same target.[28]
    • Last Compensation (unknown rank, lower than L): Upon the death of a keyword-influenced target, the user received all their abilities (including skills and stats) at twice the strength for 1 hour. The abilities were easier to use if the user had a closer relationship with the target. Alongside the abilities, the user would also receive the memories of the target that were related to their experiences with/thoughts about the user.[29]

Post-regression[]

  • Perfect Caregiver (L, skill title): Han Yoojin's primary title. From the Caregiver title range, granted to caregivers of high-rank Awakeners. This title was particularly highly-ranked as Han Yoojin Awakened with twice the rank of his ward. This title's skills affects those who are emotionally influenced by a keyword, "I love you", or derivatives of the same, spoken to them by the title holder. Affected targets also subconsciously perceive Han Yoojin as the worthiest caregiver they have known, increasing their attachment to him. Targets without prior significant caregivers do not perceive him as anyone else, but directly become attached to him.[13] Once a target is aware of the keyword's effects, this title's skills become ineffective on them.[18]
    • My Brat Is The Best (L): Similar to the Caregiver title's My Brat skill, but boosts growth rate by 100% for 3 days instead. This skill originally listed only the keyword-influenced targets,[18] but was updated to display 50 target slots that could only be filled by S-rank targets, displayed across 2 pages in a 30-20 split. Additional targets ranked lower than S are added to the end of the list in chronological order of keywording.[30][31]
      • Single skill growth focus: If My Brat's focus is applied to just one skill's growth, it is possible to forcibly acquire new skills, including optimized skills the target failed to initially acquire.[32] Targets on whom this is applied are separately listed at the end of the My Brat targets list.[31]
      • So as not to raise suspicions, Yoojin claims this skill is actually called Magic Beast Rearer, is S-rank, and allows him to raise baby monsters.[33]
    • Last Repayment (L): Similar to the Caregiver title's Last Compensation skill, but transfers abilities for 7 days instead.
    • Our Kid Is This Amazing (SS): When using the keyword on one or more targets in front of 5 or more people, the targets' abilities are boosted by X%, where X is the number of people who heard and understood the keyword. The highest possible boost is +100%. The skill lasts for 30 minutes and has a cooldown time of 10 days. The skill will not work when both the targets and the surrounding people are aware of the keyword's effect.
      • To hide the existence of the keyword, Yoojin claims he can only use this skill on people aged thirty years or less, and that its invocation conditions are to hug the target while saying affectionate, supportive things to them in front of an audience of at least 100 people.[34]
    • Promising Sprout (S): The user can check an Unawakened person's predicted Awakening rank, and can trigger an optimized Awakening for keyword-influenced targets. It has a cooldown of 30 days. Optimized Awakening cannot be used on targets that have already Awakened.
  • Dragon Slayer (L, skill title): Earned for hunting a 1st rank Dragon type alone; though Han Yoohyun contributed to the attack as well, his contributions were not counted, likely due to the time difference, or perhaps due to interference from the immoral people. Upon earning this title, Han Yoojin was rewarded with 10 Gate Stones, 5 1st rank Giving Potions, the Red Dragon Supreme Sword, and a Wish Stone (the first three items were presumably lost when regressing).[10]. This title has the following supplementary skills:[18]
    • Poison Resistance (L): A standard resistance skill. Grants complete immunity to poisons less than Legendary rank. It also has the side effect of nullifying the effects of alcohol, medicines etc.
      • In the virtual reality dungeon, this skill drops to S-rank.[25]
    • Curse Resistance (L): A standard resistance skill. Grants complete immunity to curses less than Legendary rank.
      • In the virtual reality dungeon, this skill drops to S-rank.[25]
    • Fear Resistance (L): A standard resistance skill. Makes the user immune to feeling extreme fear from sources less than Legendary rank. Also has a side effect of increasing mental fortitude and generally dulling physical anxiety responses.
      • In the virtual reality dungeon, this skill drops to S-rank.[25]
    • Rauchitas' Natural Enemy (SS): Doubles all skill effects when fighting against Rauchitas or other dragon types.
  • Miracle Rookie (S): Earned by raiding an F-rank dungeon alone as an F-rank Hunter with 3 or less items. Doubles item rewards the title holder receives from dungeon raids, presumably making this a skill title.[36]
  • Veteran F-Rank (S): Earned by raiding an E-rank dungeon alone as an F-rank Hunter with 5 or less items. Doubles effectiveness for attack skills possessed by the title holder, presumably making this a skill title.[37]
  • Can't Be Found (S, skill title): Earned by raiding a D-rank dungeon alone as an F-rank Hunter with 5 or less items.[38]
    • Hidden Picture Puzzle (A): Makes the user difficult to perceive, though not entirely invisible, even when specifically searched for.[38] With the boost from Cat's Steps, this skill works even on S-ranks.[25]
    • One More As A Freebie (S): Allows the user to share a skill of rank S or lower with 1 target through physical contact. It has a 15-day cooldown.

Belongings[]

Trivia[]

  • His bank account number is Baek-il Bank 995-04-109982.[58]
  • He likes to eat gopchang, also known as tripe.[59]
  • He naturally has a low alcohol tolerance. Even when Awakened, at level 1, 1 bottle of soju is enough to make him flushed.[17] When blackout drunk, he speaks clearly and walks steadily, but his skin is visibly flushed, his eyes are unfocused, and he becomes forgetful, repeating the same thought over and over.[12]
  • He doesn't have any fur allergies, to his relief.[60]
  • He is noted to be bad at naming things. In Bak Yerim's words, his "naming sense is like an ahjussi's", though he himself believes his choices are intuitive and easy to understand.[61]
  • Han Yoojin has a mole on his thigh (Side story Ep. 37).[28]
  • In the Q & A with Geunseo, Han Yoojin ideal type is someone who's taller (190 cm+), good looking, mature, can protect him, older than him (31 y.o +)
